Diachronic

“Diachronia” – an innovative research initiative within the Dariah.lab infrastructure, carried out under the auspices of the DARIAH-PL consortium. Our team, specializing in diachronic linguistics, has developed a range of machine learning solutions dedicated to the analysis of historical texts. Let us introduce you to a world where the past meets the future through cutting-edge technology.

Our Tasks:

1. Diachronic Normalization: Language evolves, and we help you keep up. Our module automatically transforms historical Polish into its modern form, making it easier to understand and search old texts without needing knowledge of archaic orthography.

2. Text Dating: Have you ever wondered when a document was written? Our system uses machine learning algorithms to analyze vocabulary and estimate the probable date of a text’s creation, even when this information is missing from metadata.

3. Finding Synonyms: We break language barriers across time by identifying synonyms and antonyms of words and proper names throughout history. This helps you better understand linguistic evolution and the historical context of words.

4. Disambiguation of Proper Names: In literature, proper names can appear in various forms. Our module facilitates the identification and linking of different name variants, ensuring precise and efficient information retrieval.

The Diachronia project is not just about technological advancement—it’s a groundbreaking tool for research in language and culture. Through collaboration with 18 leading institutions in digital humanities, we are transcending the boundaries of traditional scholarship and integrating Poland into the European DARIAH ERIC network.

Together, we are building the future of digital humanities, where everyone has access to knowledge about the past. Join us in exploring how AI-driven technologies can help us understand and preserve our cultural heritage.
