MedicoPZWL – Semantic Medical Search Engine
The Artificial Intelligence Center of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, in collaboration with PWN Publishing, has developed a module for an intelligent medical search engine implemented in the innovative MedicoPZWL platform, designed to support doctors in their daily medical practice. These efforts align with the broader application of artificial intelligence in developing modern solutions that assist various social sectors, including healthcare.
The Semantic Medical Search Engine project addresses the need for quick access to verified medical knowledge. It is based on a database of over 100,000 Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) documents, prepared by more than 9,000 doctors from leading academic and research institutions worldwide. This platform is designed to help doctors quickly diagnose and select appropriate treatment pathways.
As part of the project, a detailed annotation process of medical texts was carried out by qualified specialists to ensure the high quality and reliability of the data. Subsequently, by applying advanced artificial intelligence methods, a content search and ranking system was developed, capable of effectively responding to diverse user queries.
The MedicoPZWL platform offers a wide range of applications, from supporting the diagnostic process, assisting in medical education, to providing access to the latest treatment guidelines and procedures. The system is regularly updated, ensuring access to the most up-to-date medical information and research.
The collaboration between the Artificial Intelligence Center and PWN Publishing highlights their commitment to socially significant projects that contribute to improving the quality of life. This initiative demonstrates the importance of developing AI-driven solutions to address real-world social and healthcare challenges.
